University of Amsterdam (UvA) The Graduate School of Teaching and Learning was founded in 1988. As a postgraduate institute of the University of Amsterdam, it fulfils three educational tasks of the University of Amsterdam:
- Initial Teacher Training
- In-service Teacher Training
- Research & Development
The Graduate School of Teaching and Learning is the largest post graduate institute for Teacher Training and Research in the Netherlands: it provides initial teacher training, in service training and research in 22
school subjects. The Graduate school of Teaching and Learning is international oriented, and operates for initial teacher training, in-service training and research with partner universities throughout Europe. The
school offers for instance courses a Teaching of European Literature, English as a language of instruction (with practice period in England), and develops an International MA-course in Teaching and New Media. For in
service training, the Graduate school of Teaching and Learning co-ordinates an European consortium of in-service trainers, with participants for Germany, Belgium, UK and Spain. The research programme of the Graduate
School of Teaching and Learning is linked with several European research communities, most/of which are associated with EARLI, the European Association for the Research of Learning and Instruction . |
