Co-Lab, an integrated environment

The Co-Lab environment is an environment that offers challenges for collaborative inquiry learning and that supports the cognitive skills and learning processes needed to make learning in such an environment successful. For this Co-Lab offers realistic (joint) experimental setting, collaboration whiteboards and modelling whiteboards.

It is crucial for its success that the various components of the environment can work together and use each other's information for optimal learner support.

For more information please visit the mock-up of the learning environment or download the flyer.

You can download the stand-alone version of Co-Lab here.

Co-Lab users

There are two groups of users of the Co-Lab environment. Learners work with the experimental space by experimenting, working on tasks assigned by a teacher, collaborating on experiments and creating models explaining the events in the experimental space

The second group are authors, typically teachers and instructional designers, they will configure the environment for use by learners. They do this by either adapting an existing experimental space that is available, like a remote experiment or a computer simulation or creating their own experimental space based on a computer simulation or a experiment available in their own school and embed the space in the Co-Lab environment.
